Monday Night Notes from Georgia High School Football.

You have to admit that most were a little disappointed when Hutson Mason story ended Friday night. I picked Colquitt in our Vent Pick Em challenge.

Speaking of Colquitt County. How about Rush Probst? Even without a million dollar football budget and MTV, the man can flat out coach.

Da' Rick Rogers in any other year would be the easy leader for Player of the Year. Alec Ogletree is making Heisman type plays for Newnan. You think Mark Richt is licking his chops? These are the two best players in the last 4-5 or so years in Georgia and yes that includes Greg Reid.

I would put Reid 3rd behind both of these, but lets be honest they all will be playing on Sunday's so it no shame in that ranking.

Is there a anybody in the state doing a better job of coaching than Tommy Atha of Darlington? 7 seniors and a 14 yr old QB. Let's remember he lost Nash Nance and Da'Rick Rogers to Calhoun in the last 2 years. They scored on their opening drive of the season to Chattooga and then got outscored 103-0 in the next 11 quarters.

He has team playing with confidence and they are loaded with young stars. Let me be the first to say Darlington will at least play for a State Championship over the next 3 years if not this year. Yes mark that down.

Rumor is Jeff Herron is the highest paid coach in the state. I don't have a clue what he makes, but I can assure you he is worth EVERY penny of it.

Note to all teams in the state of Georgia. You do not want to draw Flowery Branch at home. Lee Shaw's bunch has won 7 games on the road in the last 2 years. To win 8 games they will have to go through Gainesville. A team that beat them 49-17 in the regular season.

I still do not like the rule of playing the state finals in the dome. Those games are made to be played in the hometowns.

Why should you wait your whole life for that moment as a player/coach and be rushed off the field in 20 min? Some of my best memories are spending time with family and Grandfather on the field in 1990 after winning the state championship.
