Troy University cornerback Leodis McKelvin was the first former Georgia high school football player to be selected in Saturday's 2008 NFL Draft. The 5-10 1/2, 186-pounder was picked 11th overall by the Buffalo Bills thus becoming the first cornerback selection of the draft. McKelvin starred at Ware County in 2002 and 2003 as a lock-down cornerback, wide receiver and special teams player. As a senior in '03, he recorded 51 tackles and six interceptions in helping lead his squad to a 9-2 record and a regional title. As a junior the season prior, he posted 60 tackles and six interceptions. At Troy University, McKelvin played himself into an early NFL selection as both a star in the defensive secondary and as an elite punt and kick returner.
