Virginia Tech Looking at Berkmar's Davis

Troy Davis tells GAVSV.com he is headed to Blacksburg, Va. June 7 and a Hokie offer may follow.

It's no secret where Troy Davis would like to play college football.

"The ACC is my favorite conference," the Berkmar High star said in a recent interview with Scout.com.

So far the talented linebacker, who lists Miami as his childhood favorite, has yet to receive an official scholarship from any schools but one could be on the way following a trip to an ACC school in early June.

"Virginia Tech has been sending me a lot of mail," Davis told GAVSV.com. "I am going to visit them on June 7th. The coach up there that is recruiting me said that they will probably offer me when they see me."

What does Davis know about the Hokies' program?

"I know they have a good academic school and they play good football," Davis said. "But other than that I don't know much."

With his 6-foot-2 and 220-pound frame there is talk that Davis could line up at defensive end at the next level. In fact, that is the position Virginia Tech coaches are recruiting him to play.

Davis says that he doesn't mind playing either one but could choose one if he had to.

"I like linebacker the best," he said.

In addition to the Hokies, Davis has been hearing from Georgia Tech and Virginia.

"I just got some mail from Vanderbilt and ECU," he added.

As a junior last season, Davis posted 80 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and four sacks.
