Wheeler and Norcross face off tonight in the 5A boy's basketball championship game. | |||

It doesn't get much better than this if you are a fan of high school basketball in the state of Georgia. Wheeler High and Norcross High will face off tonight at 8:45 in a battle of epic proportions for the 5A Crown. Norcross is led by McDonald's All-American Al-Farouq Aminu, who posted 17 points in the team's victory over Savannah to reach the title game. Stud junior Denzail Jones paced Norcross with 19 points in that win. Wheeler finds itself in the title game after Richard Howell propelled them past Hiram in the squad's previous matchup. The showdown between the two schools is the second in as many years in the postseason as Norcross got past Wheeler by one point in the first round last year. The Blue Devils built off that game and eventually won the 5A championship - their second in as many years. If Wheeler can stop Norcross tonight, they will prevent them from doing something that hasn't been done in 70 years: winning back-to-back-to-back championships in the Georgia boy's high school basketball tournament. Stay tuned for a recap of the action after the game. |
