M.L. King's Jones Headed to JUCO

Posted Feb 19, 2008

Cordelerro Jones is a talented running back/defensive back prospect.

According to an article published in Tuesday's AJC, M.L. King standout Cordelerro Jones will likely enroll at a junior college in Kansas.

The move, his coach says, is not being worked out by a Division I school so Jones will be eligible to commit to a program in a few years.

Jones, 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds, was not highly recruited not because of ability but likely because of academic concerns.

His coach says that he sees him switching to defensive back at the next level.

“Personally, I think he’s not going to be a running back,’’ King head coach Corey Jarvis told the AJC. “He doesn’t want to hear that, but he was a pretty good defensive back my first year here, and I think that’s where he’ll wind up.’’

As a senior last year, Jones rushed for 1,384 yards.

He was named first-team all-state in Class 6A.
