North Cobb's Rico Mack Likes Georgia Tech

Kennesaw native isn't hearing much from the Yellow Jackets yet but he has been hearing from others.

North Cobb High wide receiver Rico Mack knows what he wants in a college.

And he can think of one school that fits perfectly with his No. 1 priority.

"I know that I want to be close to home," Mack told GAVSV.com Friday. "I want to be close to my mom. That's why I like Georgia Tech a lot."

What else does the 5-foot-10 and 160-pound pass-catcher like about the Yellow Jackets?

"It's just a good school," Mack said. "They have a good new coach and they are going to get better and better."

Mack is quick to point out, however, that he hasn't been offered by Georgia Tech or had much dialogue other than some mail at this point. He hopes that changes after a busy upcoming schedule.

"I am going to go to as many camps as possible," Mack said. "I know that I am going to one March 1 at Westlake. Hopefully coaches see more of what I can do there."

In addition to the in-state favorite, the speedy playmaker has been hearing from several other schools, as well.

"I have been getting mail from Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Colorado," Mack said.

Mack, who plays both wide receiver and running back at North Cobb, is a versatile player that boasts impressive speed and breakaway quickness.

He hopes that coaches see what type of player he is both on and off the field.

"I am a smart player," he said. "I am quick and and I am fast learner. I play hard every single play and my coach always comments about that. I also work really hard in class."

Mack is also a standout basketball player at North Cobb.
