Recapping the 'Big Board'

Posted Feb 6, 2008

Last week, GAVSV.com took a look at a few of the top-rated Georgia natives still trying to decide on which school they would sign with. Here's a look at the final choice of those prospects.

Jarmon Fortson:

What was said last week: The Carver-Columbus star has been a soft verbal to Auburn for quite sometime. Still, that hasn't stopped Florida State coaches from pursuing the versatile athlete. Despite an official visit to FSU last weekend, Fortson's high school coach said that the four-star player is still firmly committed to play with teammate DeRon Furr and the Tigers. Still, there are some rumblings that the Seminoles feel good about their chances of swaying the 6-foot-3 standout.

Result: Fortson switched from Auburn to Florida State on Wednesday.

Keith Wells:

What was said last week: The one-time FSU commit, recently opened his recruitment back up and has finally settled on a top three in terms of potential schools. The Gainesville High star has narrowed his list to Ohio State, Tennessee and Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish were a late addition in his recruitment and appear to be on the outside looking in. As for the Buckeyes, they appear to be in the driver's seat as they were the program that started the ball rolling on the path to Wells' decision to de-commit from FSU.

Result: Wells went public with his commitment to Ohio State on Tuesday.

Omoregie Uzzi:

What was said last week: The four-star offensive guard had narrowed down his list of schools to just two in Georgia Tech and Alabama but Virginia recently entered the picture. The top remaining Georgia prospect to not be committed to a school, it's widely felt that Uzzi will ultimately stick with the in-state Yellow Jackets. The Chamblee High star is set to announce sometime before National Signing Day.

Result: Uzzi committed and signed with Georgia Tech.

Chaz Sutton:
What was said last week: After committing to Florida back in July of last year, the Jenkins High standout remained solidly committed to the Gators until recently. Now experiencing the recruiting process once again, it appears that Sutton has a top two of South Carolina and Clemson with the Gamecocks the predicted favorite to land the three-star prospect.

Result: Sutton will get to play against his original commitment every year as he signed with the Gamecocks Wednesday.
