Thomas County Central Duo Sign With FSU

Debrale Smiley and Anthony McCloud are surprise additions to the Seminoles' 2008 class.

Thomas County Central stars Debrale Smiley and Anthony Smiley committed to Florida State today.

The two teammates were surprise additions to the Seminoles' recruiting class.

Both players have flown under the radar so to speak as they work to improve their grades. If they cannot enroll at FSU in the summer or fall, Seminole coaches have said they will place them at a junior college before entrance to the university.

Smiley is a 6-foot-2 and 240-pound running back that broke a host of records during his prep career at Thomas County Central. He now owns the record for most touchdowns in a career (81), most touchdowns in a season (35) and most rushing yards in a season (2,048).

Smiley was named the Thomasville Times-Enterprise's Offensive Player of the Year in 2007.

Like his teammate, McCloud, who was not in the Scout.com database as of Wednesday, was honored for his standout play this past season as he was named the Thomasville Times-Enterprise's Defensive Player of the Year.

He posted roughly 25 tackles as a senior.

Smiley and McCloud join Carver-Columbus' Jarmon Fortson and Creekside's Terrance Parks as Georgia natives that have signed with the Seminoles.
