Chamblee Coach to Take Helm at Northview

Posted Feb 4, 2008

Jim Showfety will look to take Northview to the playoffs for the first time.

Former Chamblee High head football coach Jim Showfety has stepped down from his post at the school and will accept the same one at Northview High.

Showfety led Chamblee to the semifinals of the playoffs last season in his first year with the program.

He will be asked to do the same at Northview where the program has not reached the playoffs in its six years of existence.

"They asked me what is my first-year goal here, and I'm not dumb enough to say we're going to go 15-0, but we've got to raise expectations," Showfety was quoted as saying in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "If teams around us like Chattahoochee and Norcross can annually compete for the playoffs, we've got to challenge ourselves to meet those same standards." Chamblee set a record for most wins in a season in program history last year with 12 under the direction of Showfety.
