"It went real well," said Jaybo Shaw. "When we got there, they showed us
around. They talked a little bit about the recruiting process and academics. I
talked to the quarterbacks coach and then watched the spring practice which I
enjoyed a lot."
Shaw was really impressed with the Florida State coaching staff starting with
Head Coach Bobby Bowden.
"I like Coach Bowdon," Shaw said. "Being around him and the rest of the coaching
staff was pretty awesome. They seemed to be real close. I think
they're very straight-forward with you."
"They don't play around with you and say your gonna get this amount of
playing time and then you really don't. I think that's the one thing I
liked the most."
Most schools including FSU are recruiting Shaw more as an athlete than a signal caller.
They're going to recruit me as an athlete," said Shaw. "Just like most
big D-I schools are, but they said they're really interested and they're coming
up to Flowery Branch for our spring practice."
"Wake Forest is really the only D-I school that is really looking at me as a
quarterback. They run the spread offense, so they feel like I would be a
pretty good fit for that."
"Most schools say that I would be a good quarterback, but they could just use
me more as an athlete."
Shaw appears to be very close to picking up his first offer. Several
schools are showing Big-Time interest including one school from Conference
"We were on our way to Florida State and I got a text message from Coach Paul Nichols . He's the defensive backs coach at Marshall. The text
message said that he wanted me to call him, so I did."
"He said he saw some film of me from last year and he wanted to no if I was
set on playing quarterback in college or anything like that. Of course, I
told him no. I just wanted to play football."
"He said they were really interested and for me to make sure I came to their
junior day because it my extend into an offer. I think me and my Dad are
going to fly out to Marshall on April 21"
