Griffin, GA - Griffin High running back Bobby Rainey has decided to end his recruiting by commiting to the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky.

Griffin running back Bobby Rainey had a mighty impressive senior season after rushing for over 2,000 yards and 31 touchdowns.

He is more than just a good runner, he's a very good blocker and a good receiver out of the backfield as well.  However, at 5-foot-8, 195-pounds, Rainey has been flying under the radar screens of major college recruiters.

On Tuesday, the AJC All-State prospect decided to end his recruiting by committing to the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky.

"I liked the environment," said Rainey,  "It sort of reminds me of home.  Bowling Green looks just like Griffin to me.  I think their offense really suits me, plus they'll be moving up to Division I-A by my sophomore season."

Western Kentucky's academics and early playing time also had a lot to do with Rainey's decision to be a Hilltopper.

"They really stress academics at Western Kentucky," he said.  "They harp on that a lot.  They want you to graduate and that's what I'm going to school for anyway.  I want to graduate."

"They're coaching staff said I could come in and compete for a starting spot as a freshman.  That's somehting that I really wanted to do.  I know I can do that at Western Kentucky."

Rainey has scholarship offers from Western Kentucky, Eastern Michigan and Albany State.  He is completely finished with his recruiting process and he'll sign his letter of intent on Wednesday at Griffin High School.

Rainey, who played in the Georgia North-South All-Star Game, had 347 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns in a single game against Riverdale last October.  He was a Scout.com two-star prospect.
