Darell Norman headed to C-USA

Lincoln County running back Darrell Norman committed to UAB after his official visit to Birmingham this weekend. Norman spoke with GAVSV.com about his decision to play for Coach Neil Callaway and the Blazers.

At 5-foot-10, 181-pounds, Darell Norman holds offers from Middle Tennessee, Troy, Ball State and Cincinnati.

The Scout.com two-star running back prospect has decided to play in the Conference USA. Norman made his decision after an official visit to UAB and a conversation with Head Coach Neil Callaway this weekend.

“I committed to UAB,” Said Norman. "My visit went pretty good. I toured the campus and met all the coaches. Their coaches were real good guys and they made me feel at home."

"I talked to Coach Callaway and he was a really nice guy. He had nothing but good things to say to me. I really liked him a lot and he had a lot to do with my decision to play there."

Norman is a versatile athlete that could play both running back or wide receiver at the next level.

"Their running back and wide receiver positions are open. I've got a chance to go in there and get some early playing time. You can't beat that. It was hard to refuse, so I had to take it."

Tyson Summers, the linebackers coach, recruited Darell Norman for UAB.

Norman finished with 1,167 yards rushing on 108 carries and 13 touchdowns which helped Lincoln County to a back-to-back state championship.

He was named first team All-State and played in the GACA North-South All-Star game in Columbus, Georgia.
