The 5A Schools waited their turn all weekend, and Roswell and Tift County packed Georgia Dome. It was a slow start, but the firewords started in the 2nd quarter. See all of the scoring highlights in this 1st half Re-Cap from ScoutTV.

The 5A Schools made their first appearance of the night and the Dome was rocking with both Roswell and Tift County being relative newcomers to the State Finals. The teams fought through a scoreless first quarter as both offenses seemed to have some Dome jitters, but it was Roswell that broke on top first.

Quarterback Dustin Taliaferro broke containment and found Daniel Niedzwiecki in the corner of the endzone. The PAT put Roswell on top 7-0.

Roswell forced a three and out, and if there was any doubt which way the momentum was going, Alex Daniel of Roswell made sure it was all with Roswell as he ripped off a 70+ yard run to put Roswell up 14-0.

Was Tift County going to bring all of these people to the Dome to be run out of here in the first half?

Hardly.

Tift County's Marvin Chaney ripped off an 80 yard kickoff return to the Roswell one yardline. Kaream Hess plunged through the line to make it 14-7.

After a scoreless first quarter, 21 points had been scored in less than five minutes of the second quarter, and the Georgia Dome was rocking again.

Tift County followed up its touchdown with a Jarvis Watts interception of Taliaferro, and the Blue Devils were back in business at the Roswell 45 yardline.

The Blue Devils failed to capitalize on their good field position with an ill advised throw over the middle. Quinton Franklin returned the interception to the Roswell 43 yardline.

Roswell was forced to punt, and things seemed to have settled down again when Tift County lined up for a punt and faked it. They not only picked up the first down, they picked up about 20 yards and moved to the Hornet 34 yardline.

Tift County took a shot over the middle that was deflected, then came back with an inside handoff on second and long that appeared to be a conservative call. A conservative call that went for 30 yards to the Hornet 11 yardline with 39 seconds left in the half.

A blitz by Tyler Watson of Roswell caught quarterback Sean Baxley off guard, and the Blue Devils were dropped back to the 20. Baxley was fortunate to not be intercepted on the next throw, but a shovel pass on third down brought Tift County to the Roswell seven facing fourth down.

Kicker Charlie Edwards was true from 24 yards out, and the half ended with Roswell leading Tift County 14-10.
