GAC's Lee Chapple lands first offer
"It's definitely picked up since all of the college games are over," said Chapple. "I just picked up an offer from Richmond last night."
Chapple visited Richmond during their homecoming game on October 28th.
"I took an unofficial visit up there when they played James Madison and I got a nice feel for the campus," said Chapple. "I was very impressed with their coaching staff. It's a young staff, but they're a staff that I would want to be around for the next four years."
Quite a few schools are staying in touch with the Scout.com two-star prospect and others could be close to offering.
"I'm hearing from Southern Miss and Miami (Ohio) just came by and watched all my junior and senior tape at school. Central Florida is very interested and they want me to take an official visit there in January."
Chapple (6-1.5,198) said he had somewhere around 1,600-1,700 yards passing and 16 touchdowns this season. He will take his official visits when the season is over.
I'm looking to take officials to Richmond, Central Florida, Memphis and Miami (Ohio).
GAVSV.com talked Chapple about his next opponent in the quarterfinals the Dublin Irish.
"They're definitely a very good team. No doubt in my mind about that," said Chapple. "They're very fast and they fly to the football. That's one big thing they have going for them. They play an aggressive style defense and they score points. They're a great football team."
What do you hope to accomplish offensively against the Irish defense?
"We're going to try to stay balanced like we have been," he said. "That's been the plan that we've been able to use real well to this point. We just want to keep it balanced and keep their defense off guard. It's something that we have to do in order to be successful."
What has been the strength of the GAC team this year? The defense or the offense?
"It's a team concept with us," he said. "We don't pride our self on having the best offense or the best defense in the state. We take pride in working hard and doing our best on both sides of the ball. I'm not sure how many points we average on offense or how many points we give up on defense, but I'm sure it's near the top."
