Duluth (Ga) - Duluth High defensive end Broderick Simpson will be attending the UConn-Cincinnati game this Saturday. Simpson talks to GAVSV.com about his upcoming unofficial visit and names a clear-cut favorite.
"I'm taking a trip up to the University of
Connecticut
this Saturday," said
Broderick Simpson
. "I plan on going to watch them play Cincinnati. My cousin (Terrell Byrd) plays for Cincinnati. I've never seen him play since he's been there. He's also a defensive lineman, so I'm also excited about that. This will be a chance for me to see how it is and basically just get a look at things. Hopefully, I'll get to meet the coaches. I haven't seen the coaches since spring."
Right now, Eastern Kentucky, a Division 1-AA school, is the only to offer the 6-foot-1, 230-pound defensive lineman.
"Eastern Kentucky might be the school I end up going to," said Simpson. "Their coach is actually coming to my house next week to talk to me. We're gonna be talking about the offer, talking about everything just to get a look at the full picture, and nail some things down."
"I just went to Eastern Kentucky this past weekend. I like what I saw. For a Division 1-AA school, it seems like they're on top of things. According to what they told me, they haven't had a losing season in the last twenty years. I like that."
Michigan State, Akron, Connecticut,
Oklahoma State
, Ball State, Kentucky, and Southern Mississippi are still recruiting Simpson. The standout tackle said he has about four schools on his list but does he have a leader?
"
Southern Miss
is still in the picture," he said. "My Mother is thinking about trying to get back to Southern Miss. I've already been there three times. That's the main school I really want to go to. They're still in contact with me. Coach (Jay) Johnson, the offensive coordinator, is the recruiter for my area. If they put an offer on the table, I'm probably going to take that and run with it."
