Dodge RB Ready for Playoff Run

Eastman (GA) - For years, Dodge County has essentially been known as a run-first team that has produced a talented array of speedy tailbacks. At 5-foot-9, 180 pounds, Kalvin Daniels is the latest standout running back to wear the "Big Red".

This has been a very good year for (8-1) Dodge County. The Indians earned a right to play Dublin for the Region Championship after a 29-0 shellacking of Toombs County last Friday night.

Senior Kalvin Daniels led the way for the Indians with 18 carries for 133 yards and a touchdown.

"I have good leadership skills," said Daniels. "My vision is pretty good and I'm able to make things happen. I'm very versatile. I can play anywhere on the field."

Daniels has emerged as one of the top running back prospects in the Middle Georgia area.

"I've been getting some calls from Georgia Southern and Wofford," said Daniels. "I've talked to them about coming down there and visiting. They want me to come to a couple of their games."

Wade Lang, Offensive Coordinator, is the coach recruiting Daniels for Wofford. The Terriers currently have two former Middle Georgia running backs on their roster in Jeremy Marshall (Hawkinsville) and Kevious Johnson (Fitzgerald).

What is Daniels looking for in a school?

"I want to be close to home," he said. "I want to get early playing time. I'm just looking for a good all-around school with good academics. It's very important that I get a good education."

The Indians have a legitimate shot at going deep in the playoffs. So far, their only blemish is a 30-6 loss to Fitzgerald.

"I've been playing four years," Daniels said. "We've only made it to the state playoffs once since I've been playing. It would really mean a lot to me if we could go real far in the playoffs. It's my last year and this team really wants it. We really want to do good for our county."
