Dublin and Vidalia are the front-runners for the region title, with Dublin coming off an 11-1 record and the Region 3-AA championship from last year. Quarterback Ben Cochran starts his fourth season for the Irish, while Brian Wilcher looks to improve on his 1,176 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns from 2005.
Vidalia capped off 2005 with a 9-2 mark and a runner-up finish in 3-AA but took an early exit in the playoffs with a 28-7 loss to Macon County.
After making its first playoff appearance under coach Greg Robinson last year, Dodge County also looks to be in the hunt in 2006. Despite needing an entirely new offensive line, the offensive backfield is intact, which will be led by quarterback Charles Gordon, running back Cameo Holloway and fullback Calvin Daniels.
The fourth playoff spot will be up for grabs, most likely coming down between Toombs County and Bleckley County. Tattnall County, which went 2-8 last year, and East Laurens (1-9) look to improve on disappointing seasons.
