McIntosh County Academy makes the move up from Region 3-A this year, a region the Buccaneers won the past two seasons. McIntosh has enough Division I talent, led by linebacker Allen Bailey and defensive end B.J. Jenkins, to challenge Charlton for the region title.
Appling County will have to stay injury-free as the Pirates have little depth with just seven seniors and 12 juniors on their roster after a 4-6-1 season in 2005. Brantley County (6-4 in 2005) adds to the competitive nature of the region, while Savannah Christian comes to the region after going 6-4 in Region 3-AA.
Long County also moves up to 2-AA in 2006 after going 2-8 in 3-A last year, while Pierce County and Jeff Davis round out the region.
