Zach MacDowall is one of the top quarterbacks in the Peach State this year, and it's been a busy spring for the Harrison standout. More than 70 college coaches have made their way to the Cobb County power's practice fields this spring. What they've found is a 6-2 and 200 pound quarterback that had 2,317 yards on 164/255 with 25 touchdowns against only eight interceptions as a junior.
Zach MacDowall
is an especially valuable prospect, because he will be graduating in December and enrolling for Spring Practice. That extra Spring is more valuable for a quarterback than any other position. Who are some of the schools that have been recruiting MacDowall the hardest?
"I got a chance to talk with Coach Bunting at
North Carolina
," said MacDowall. "He did a great job with the program this year, and I think this is going to be a huge year for them.
Wake Forest
and
Southern Miss
have been recruiting me hard too. I like Jay Johnson the quarterback's coach at Southern Miss. I've gotten calls this spring from teams like
Boston College
, North Carolina, Mayland,
Clemson
,
Oregon
, Wake, and
Western Michigan
."
Has anyone caught MacDowall's eye early?
"I really like Clemson, Wake Forest, and North Carolina, but I'm open to anyone right now. I'm going to be camping at all three of those schools right in a row at the beginning of the summer. Then I want to try and visit Boston College and Southern Miss just to meet with the coaches and see the school."
MacDowall has gotten good feedback from the coaches that have come to see him this spring, and he was a standout at the Scout.com Combine in Auburn last month.
"They've been saying they love what I do behind center since we don't run a wide open spread offense. They like my pocket presence and reads along with my arm, and they said they're real impressed with my footwork."
They should be after MacDowall posted a solid 4.75 at the Scout.com Combine last month.
"I had a good time. I tested better than I thought I would, and I thought I threw the ball well."
MacDowall is a solid quarterback prospect that also gets it done in the classroom. His goals are two-fold as well.
"I'm going to be graduating early so I am looking for a place with a great quarterback coach and where I can get a great degree. I'm planning on going into pre-law."
MacDowall is definitely a prospect to keep an eye on this summer and fall.
