The All-Classification GAVSV.com All State team was chosen as if I were
taking a team to the Dome to take on the Florida All-Stars this week. Some
players may be better college prospects, but these are the players that I have
seen that I would want to go to war with.
At quarterback, A.J. Bryant is a lethal weapon. He has a lightning quick release
and a 4.32 forty. Giving him weapons that he would have at his command on this
team would be a scary proposition for opponents.
At running back, I would take two players that squared off in the state finals
last year. Darius Walker of Buford and Brannan Southerland of GAC would form a
combination reminiscent of the tandem that GAC rode to the state finals last
year with Southerland and Micah Andrews. I feel Thomas Brown is the best running
back in the state, but he is needed elsewhere.
At wide receiver, it starts will Calvin Johnson. This kid looks like he would be
a star on the college level THIS year. Jermaine Allen of Americus had a monster
season last year, and deserves to be on the All-State team. Demiko Goodman may
be the better prospect than his teammate Derrell Stegall, but Stegall is the
better player right now.
The offensive line is just plain scary. With Michael Brown, Courtney Abbott,
Hamilton Holliday, Seth Watts, and Jeremy Ciulla, there is power, mobility and
brains. A coach could run any offense with the group.
Will Judson would make this team returning punts, kickoffs, and blocking place
kicks. He is lightning quick and would be a weapon on special teams.
This team gets even scarier on defense.
Defensive ends Charles Johnson and Brandon Miller are two of the best players in
the country. They are not just raw prospects, they do it all for Hawkinsville
and Miller County respectively.
At defensive tackle, Eric McLendon and Lorenzo Washington would form a pair of
run pluggers that would be absolutely unblockable on the high school level.
The linebackers are strong and active. Travis Chambers of Chamblee would man the
middle. He dominates on the high school level, and is tough as nails. Josh
Johnson makes plays sideline to sideline, and Jae Thaxton is a difference maker
when healthy.
Thomas Brown would be a starting corner. He is the bet running back in the
state, but he is also the best corner in the state, and there is more depth at
running back. Tristan Davis of Tri Cities would man the other side.
Michael Grant is the free safety on this team. He can make plays all over the
field. Sure tackling and bone crushing hitter Eric Williams is the strong safety
on this team.
