Bessent's blowing up

Bessent's blowing up

A week before Christmas, Kalvarez Bessent pulled in his first three offers. He took a little break, then he has exploded over the past week and a half with four more big offers from SEC schools.

"I am excited about the offers, but I am staying humble about it all too," Kalvarez Bessent said.

After picking up offers from Ole Miss, Ohio State, and North Carolina in that order on December 17 and 18, Bessent stayed quiet on the recruiting front for the next six weeks.

It got going again on signing day 2013.

"Alabama offered me on signing day, then Auburn offered me a couple of days later. Then Florida offered me last Wednesday, then Georgia on Friday. They all came in pretty quick."

Bessent is set to visit Alabama this weekend and he will likely trip to Auburn later this spring, but he has been on the Florida and Georgia campus numerous times already.

"I have always been kind of a Florida fan, so I am pretty familiar with them. I have been there a couple of times and I like their campus, I like their team, and I like their coaches. I talked to Coach [Will] Muschamp last week and he is the coach that offered me.

"Georgia is a school I know a lot about too. Coach [Mark] Richt called my coach, so I called Coach Richt back, and he offered me. We talked for a while and he just wanted to get to know me. I like the campus and overall program at Georgia."

The future Scout300 cornerback out of Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County has connections at both UF and UGA.

"Some of my teammates last year just signed with Florida and Georgia, so that is cool. Jarrad Davis signed with Florida and J.J. Green and Brice Ramsey signed with Georgia. It really helps those schools because if I went there I would already know someone. That won't be a big factor in my decision though."

Bessent will make his decision based on where he feels most comfortable. He will likely commit over the summer and four schools stand out most to him at this time.

"Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia, and Ohio State are my favorites," he said. "I just need to take some more visits, see the different schools, and learn more about them.

"I will be at Florida Tuesday to watch their spring practice, then I will be at Alabama this weekend. I know I will be back at Georgia soon and I will check out some other schools too."
