Hayes looking at four

Alex Hayes

Tucker (Ga.) offensive lineman Alex Hayes waited patiently for his scholarship offers to come in, and now he has several options to chose from as the recruiting process hits the home stretch. Go inside for the latest on the big Peach State prospect.

Recruiting is finally picking up for Tucker (Ga.) senior offensive lineman Alex Hayes.

"You could say that," he said. "I'm trying to get these visits set up."

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound prospect holds scholarship offers from Syracuse, Wake Forest, Alabama State and Georgia State, and those will be the schools he is hoping to visit before making a decision.

"I'm visiting Alabama State on January 18, that's all right now," said Hayes. "But the other three are getting visits as well."

The quartet of schools each offers something different to the Peach State standout, but one is standing out just a little bit more than the others, "for now."

"More of Syracuse because of their conference (now the ACC), coaching staff and type of offense they run," said the senior. "But I still want to see campus and things in New York."

The other schools aren't far behind the Orange. Hayes touched on each.

ASU: "Alabama State because of the smaller atmosphere and home-town feel as well as my bond with the coaching staff."

GSU: "Georgia State because distance from home, it's a new staff and a new program, so I could help build new traditions."

WFU: "Wake Forest for academics and how well known they are for producing linemen."

Hayes plans on committing sometime after taking each of his official visits. Most schools are considering him as an interior offensive line prospect.
