Jennings anticipates good matchup

LSU commit Anthony Jennings

Marietta High School product Anthony Jennings, a longtime commitment to LSU, looks forward to his future school's Chick-fil-A matchup with Clemson, which will be contested near his hometown.

LSU commitment Anthony Jennings has turned his focus to getting ready for football at the collegiate level in recent weeks. With his high school season in the books, the 6-2 202-pound quarterback from Marietta, Ga., has had a chance to entertain LSU quarterbacks coach Steve Kragthorpe. Jennings is expecting Kragthorpe to be back in his home tomorrow (Friday), only this time Les Miles will be along for the ride.

"Coach Kragthorpe came by last week and visited for a while," said Jennings. "Coach Kragthorpe and Coach Miles are coming in tomorrow. They wanted to come in together to meet my family and see how everything around here is."

After tomorrow's visit, Jennings explained that he would be eagerly awaiting the matchup between No. 14 Clemson and No. 8 LSU, a pairing that he feels is among the best in college football this bowl season. Jennings expects the game to be just like the rest of LSU's games this year. He expects a grinder that should be kept pretty close by the LSU defense.

"I think it's one of the best bowl matchups of the season," said the four-star prospect. "I think it's going to be a great matchup between one of the best quarterbacks in the nation against one of the best defenses. I think it's going to be a dogfight the whole game. I look forward to it."

Jennings believes that the matchup between the Clemson offense, led by quarterback Tahj Boyd, and the LSU defense will be one for the ages.

"I think the Clemson offense is very dynamic," said Jennings. "They are really good. With them going up against the LSU defense, it should be an amazing matchup to see."

Aside from the overall chess match between the Clemson offense and the LSU defense, Jennings will be watching the quarterbacks on both sides closely, a position that Jennings feels will be the key to the game for both teams. The Marietta High School standout also believes that LSU's Zach Mettenberger will have a great game because of good preparation.

"I'll be watching the quarterbacks for both teams," said Jennings. "I think they will be an integral part to the game for both teams.

"I think Mettenberger will be very prepared. I think he will come out throwing the ball well and he will do a great job. I think coach Kragthorpe is doing a great job and he will have his quarterbacks ready for this game. I think the quarterbacks are the key in this game."

While Jennings said that he wouldn't be able to attend the game, he did say he would be tuned in to watch a game that he fully expects LSU win.

"I think LSU is going to win the game by at least a touchdown," said Jennings. "But, it will be a great game. I won't get to go to it, but I will definitely be glued to the TV."
